Tuesday’s area golf briefs
Five professionals from North Carolina are tied for the lead after the first round of the Carolinas PGA Section’s 91st Carolinas Open on the Champions Course at Bryan Park.
Savio Nazareth of Kernersville, Jerry Haas of Winston-Salem, Tim Straub of Huntersville, Christopher Osentoski of Raleigh and Zachary Collins of Durham are tied for the lead at 2-under 69.
Dale Ketola of Little River is tied for 14th at 1-over 72, Derek Watson of Myrtle Beach is tied for 21st at 73 and Ryan Tyndall of Murrells Inlet is tied for 28th at 74 entering Wednesday’s second round of the 54-hole event.
