With Down East already leading 1-0, the Wood Ducks were able to add three runs to their tally. A double courtesy of Carlos Garay scored two, while a single by Evan Van Hoosier brought another run in.

Offensive star

Vimael Machin was 3-for-4 in Thursday night’s game, including a double for the Pelicans in a losing effort.

Decision takers

Winner: Jonathan Hernandez went 5.1 innings on Thursday, giving up one run on four hits to pick up the win.

Loser: Mike Rucker pitched 3.1 innings, ceding four runs on six hits.
