Turning point

The Down East Wood Ducks scored runs in each of the first six innings. However, a five-run outburst in the third proved to be Myrtle Beach’s undoing, as Matt Lipka and Luis La O connected for home runs off of Pelicans starter Ryan Kellogg.

Offensive star

Down East third baseman Luis La O was 3-for-5 in the game, with a home run and 4 RBIs. He also scored four runs on the night for the Wood Ducks.

Decision takers

Winner: Wes Benjamin (5-6) went six innings, giving up two runs on 11 hits. He struck out two Pelicans batters.

Loser: Ryan Kellogg had a rough go of things, yielding six runs on nine hits in two innings of work.
