Rarely is a trip to the ballpark simply a leisurely experience these days for Myrtle Beach Pelicans general manager Andy Milovich.

Though still a pastime, the temptation of turning a pleasant night at the old ballgame can at times tend to be overwhelming.

“I wouldn’t call it a grind, because I love what we do,” Milovich said. “But there are times where I may be visiting a ballpark and turn a good night into creating a list of ‘things we’re not doing’ and ‘what we can do better.’ It’s our goal to bring fans a memorable experience for both longtime fans and visitors that potentially lures them back.”

This weekend, however, Milovich and the Pelicans will offer a full course of events only their peers in the Chicago Cubs’ farm system can provide.

A festive atmosphere will envelope TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark from June 23-25, an assortment of activities planned for this year’s Cubs-A-Palooza celebration.

While the entire weekend will have its share of attractions — ranging from VIP Q&A sessions with Chicago Cubs legends Andre Dawson and Bill Buckner on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively, to special team-inspired giveaways — the highlight for most will be the opportunity to see and take photos with the 2016 World Series trophy won by the club up close.

“It’s all part of a celebration of the Cubs,” Milovich said. “While we may not have been in Chicago or on the field with them, the overall success of the club kind of funnels down to their farm clubs. The opportunity to celebrate this championship and have the trophy in town for a night certainly makes for a special occasion.”

Fans can score VIP packages for $100, guaranteeing their admittance to the weekend’s top events and a host of Cubs souvenirs.

In addition, it offers yet another opportunity to showcase TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, recently voted as one of the top venues at the minor league’s Class A-Advanced level.

“We’re incredibly proud of our ballpark,” he said. “It’s a classic retro facility that has aged well, and has been maintained just as well. I think we are incredibly blessed to have a stadium like this, and our success is validated by the many fans that visit Pelicans ball games throughout the year.”
