With the score tied 2-all in the top half of the 10th, a single by Bryant Flete would bring in Robert Garcia, giving the Pelicans the lead. Trent Giambrone’s solo home run later in the frame extended the Myrtle Beach lead, which reliever Scott Effross made stand up in the bottom half of the frame.

Offensive star

Myrtle Beach second baseman and shortstop Trent Giambrone was 2-for-4 in the game with a home run.

Decision takers

Winner: Pedro Araujo (4-0) went two innings, giving up a run on two hits. He struck out four Down East batters.
