On Tuesday, former South Carolina football star Marcus Lattimore will appear at Coastal Carolina University for his foundation’s leadership academy.

The event is one of four statewide conferences organized to prepare student-athletes for college athletics and academics. According to a news release, it will focus on “NCAA Eligibility, professional etiquette, job interview techniques and finance.”

Approximately 200 students from Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties were selected to participate. The event will run from 9:15 a.m.-2 p.m. at CCU’s Wheelwright Auditorium.

In addition to Lattimore and members of his foundation, other guests will include members of the South Carolina Department of Education, former Coastal track athlete Ruby Durham and former Clemson and Mississippi State football player Brandon Maye.

Lattimore, who played for USC from 2010-2012, was briefly with the San Francisco 49ers before retiring due to lingering knee issues. He returned to South Carolina, where he has launched his D.R.E.A.M.S. Foundation, working primarily with high school athletes.
