Myrtle Beach drops to No. 10 in media poll
The state’s poll voters are starting to think exactly the same way the Region VII-AAA coaches do.
The updated S.C. Prep Media Football Poll, released Tuesday, includes just one of the six squads from that region in the top 10, with Myrtle Beach holding onto the 10th spot. However, fellow teams Lake City (4-1), Georgetown (4-1) and Wilson (3-2) are among the Class AAA teams that are receiving votes. (EDITOR’S NOTE: The Sun News’ Ian Guerin voted Georgetown No. 9 in his most recent rankings, meaning the others were included by outside media members.)
That said, the gauntlet of region play will begin this week. And whomever comes out of it with the title could be poised for a playoff run.
“I think with our competition and the quality of coaches, it helps set you up,” North Myrtle Beach coach Blair Hardin said about the division this week.
The only other area school appearing the polls this week was Conway, which is again receiving votes in Class AAAA after moving to 5-1 with a three-point win over Myrtle Beach last week.
