Preview capsule: South Brunswick vs. Conway
South Brunswick (1-0) vs. Conway (1-0)
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium
The game: Conway didn’t set the matchup for this event. But if the Tigers are still in need of confidence-boosting victories, their pairing for the Derrick Law Firm Carolinas Kickoff Clash tilt could be more of what the team is looking for. South Brunswick won its opener on Saturday. However, in the process, the Cougars allowed 42 points. Conway, meanwhile, is coming off a respectable overall showing and a strong fourth quarter against Georgetown, one of the more athletic defenses in the area. Against the Bulldogs, Tigers quarterback Peyton Derrick was 20-of-29 for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns while running for another score. What’s more, he wasn’t simply throwing the ball to South Carolina commitment Bryan Edwards. His slew of receivers, and the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium turf, could lead to some more big passing numbers.
