Discounted DLF Carolinas Kickoff Clash tickets still available

Individual game tickets for this week’s Derrick Law Firm Carolinas Kickoff Clash are still available at the discounted rate.

The tickets, which will be $12 at the gate, are only $10 if purchased at the individual schools. Those will be sold through Thursday afternoon for Conway and Friday afternoon for the area’s two other participating schools, Socastee and Myrtle Beach.

Each school will receive a portion of its respective ticket sales, even if they are purchased at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium ticket offices. Each team will have its own window on-site.

The five-game, 10-team event matches five teams from South Carolina against their counterparts from North Carolina. It begins Thursday night when Conway plays South Brunswick. Socastee will face New Hanover on Friday.

On Saturday, North Brunswick-Marlboro County and Southeast Raleigh-South Florence will precede Charlotte Christian-Myrtle Beach.

This year’s games will include more pre-game and halftime entertainment, as well as a Charlotte Christian team that has won three consecutive North Carolina Independent Schools’ state championships.

Event promoter Mark Stafford of 151 Sports Marketing pointed out Charlotte Christian’s long list of eventual college players, and that the school uses trips like this to attract even more talent.

“This is the highlight of their recruiting process,” Stafford said. “Being able to tell their players and their parents they get to go to Myrtle Beach, they’re making a weekend out of it. It’s a college-type environment in how they run their program.”
