Seahawk sendoff: Myrtle Beach heads to Columbia seeking back-to-back state titles

The Myrtle Beach High School football team got a spirited sendoff Friday morning as they got in the bus headed for Columbia in hopes of becoming a back-to-back state champion.

Led by cheerleaders and the band marching, players began a parade down the halls of Myrtle Beach High and then to the other Myrtle Beach schools. The Seahawks handed out high fives and received lots of “good luck” wishes.

The Lower State-champion Seahawks are scheduled to play Upper State-champ Wren in the Class 4A title game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Myrtle Beach defeated Greer 37-21 in last season’s championship game to bring home the eighth football championship in school history.
