High school football playoff projections: Who can punch their ticket this week?
With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the playoff picture is rapidly becoming clearer. Here is a look at how region races involving area teams are shaking out:
Region 6-5A
Conway, Sumter and Carolina Forest have already earned playoff berths.
Sumter can win the Region 6-5A title with a win Friday night. Conway can do the same by claiming a victory over the Gamecocks, in addition to a West Florence win over Carolina Forest.
Carolina Forest will vie for a region championship with a win Friday night, combined with a Conway win.
West Florence could punch its ticket on Friday night with a win over Carolina Forest and a Socastee victory over South Florence.
Socastee and South Florence will meet Friday night at Florence’s Memorial Stadium, the loser all but falling out of the race for a postseason berth.
Region | Overall | |||
Team | W | L | W | L |
Conway | 3 | 0 | 7 | 1 |
Sumter | 3 | 0 | 7 | 1 |
Carolina Forest | 2 | 1 | 5 | 3 |

South Florence | 0 | 3 | 1 | 7 |
Region 7-4A
North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach have clinched playoff berths.
North Myrtle Beach can wrap up the Region 7-4A title Friday with a win at Marlboro County.
Wilson can punch its ticket to the postseason — as well as one for Marlboro County — with a win on Friday night.
St. James needs a win Friday night against Wilson to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Region | Overall | |||
Team | W | L | W | L |
North Myrtle Beach | 3 | 0 | 8 | 0 |
Myrtle Beach | 2 | 1 | 5 | 4 |
Wilson | 1 | 1 | 5 | 3 |
Marlboro County | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 |
St. James | 0 | 2 | 2 | 6 |
Region 6-3A
Georgetown and Dillon have locked up playoff berths.
Lake City can punch its postseason ticket with a win Friday night against Aynor.
An Aynor win over Lake City and a Waccamaw victory Loris would punch the Blue Jackets’ ticket to the postseason. Should Loris beat the Warriors, the Lions and Aynor will meet next Friday with a playoff berth hanging in the balance.
Waccamaw’s playoff chances are slim at best.
Region | Overall | |||
Team | W | L | W | L |
Dillon | 3 | 0 | 8 | 0 |
Georgetown | 3 | 0 | 5 | 3 |
Lake City | 2 | 1 | 3 | 5 |
Aynor | 1 | 2 | 5 | 3 |
Loris | 0 | 3 | 2 | 6 |
Waccamaw | 0 | 3 | 0 | 8 |
Region 7-2A
Carvers Bay, Latta and Andrews have clinched playoff berths.
Carvers Bay can clinch a league title with a win over Johnsonville and a Latta loss to Mullins. If not it can win the region outright the following week at Latta.
Mullins and Kingstree can clinch playoff spots with a win.
Johnsonville needs a win over Carvers Bay in its season finale and for Kingstree to lose in each of its final two games.
Marion has been eliminated.
Region | Overall | |||
Team | W | L | W | L |
Carvers Bay | 4 | 0 | 7 | 1 |
Andrews | 4 | 1 | 7 | 2 |
Latta | 3 | 1 | 6 | 2 |

Kingstree | 1 | 3 | 1 | 7 |
Johnsonville | 1 | 4 | 3 | 6 |
Marion | 0 | 4 | 1 | 7 |
Region 6-A
Hemingway and Lake View have clinched playoff berths. Their meeting on Oct. 27 will determine the league title.
Hannah-Pamplico can sew up a postseason berth with a win over East Clarendon on Friday.
Speaking of East Clarendon, the Wolverines hold the inside track on the final playoff spot assured by Region 6-A, this after taking a 24-12 decision over Green Sea Floyds. The Trojans will need a win over either Hemingway or Hannah-Pamplico and a pair of East Clarendon losses to squeeze their way into the postseason mix.
Region | Overall | |||
Team | W | L | W | L |
Hemingway | 3 | 0 | 8 | 0 |
Lake View | 3 | 0 | 7 | 1 |
Hannah-Pamplico | 1 | 2 | 4 | 4 |
East Clarendon | 1 | 2 | 4 | 4 |
Green Sea Floyds | 1 | 2 | 4 | 4 |
