Team of the week – Andrews: The Yellow Jackets ended their most difficult stretch of the season with a flourish, using a 30-point second quarter to overwhelm Mullins in a 51-19 rout. In the win, Andrews outran the Auctioneers by more than 300 yards on the ground, holding an advantage of 434-171 in total yardage. Though currently second in Region 7-2A, the Yellow Jackets have put them in a good position as it hits the lighter portion of league play.
Player of the week – Cason McClendon, North Myrtle Beach: For those waiting for the Chiefs quarterback to finally show his full potential, last Thursday night was the perfect example. McClendon completed 12 of his 15 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns, leading North Myrtle Beach to a 24-19 win over rival Myrtle Beach. “We just took it as another game, and we came out, did our thing and played as a team,” he said. “That’s what it takes to win big games.”
