Scouting report: This is the third all-time meeting between the programs, Conway earning victories in 1996 and 1997. … Fort Dorchester, winner of the Class 4A-Division I title a year ago, has won 26 of its past 27 games — the lone blemish a 35-22 setback to No. 1 Dutch Fork in August. … Winner moves on to Lower State 5A final, against either Dutch Fork or White Knoll. … The Patriots are led by dynamic quarterback Dakereon Joyner, who surpassed the 3,000-yard mark for the second season in a row. He’s not bad with his feet either, rushing for 84 yards on 21 carries in last week’s win over Blythewood. … Fort Dorchester has scored 40 points or more in six of its past eight games. … Since the break caused for Hurricane Matthew, Conway has been one of the state’s hottest teams. The Tigers have won five of their past six. … Quarterback Peyton Derrick has passed for 2,623 yards and 27 touchdowns this season. Like his counterpart in the Fort Dorchester backfield, he also has 522 yards and 10 scores on the ground. … The production of Conway linebacker Jaylen Moody has ticked up in recent weeks, notching 13 solo tackles in each of the past two games.

Class 2A
Barnwell at Carvers Bay
When: 7:30 p.m., Friday
Radio: None
Records: Barnwell is 11-1; Carvers Bay is 9-3
Coaches: Dwayne Garrick, Barnwell; Nate Thompson, Carvers Bay

Players to watch — BHS: RB Mykal Lee, RB Anton Buxton, LB Jackson Carter; CB: DL Byron Young, ATH Daquan Carr
Scouting report: These teams’ first meeting in more than a decade comes with the added perk of a spot in the Lower State 2A final. … Barnwell hails from arguably the toughest league in the classification, Region VI-2A. Of the teams in the conference, five made the playoffs — three of which are still playing (the Warhorses, along with Bamberg-Ehrhardt and Batesburg-Leesville). The Red Raiders and Panthers, respectively, will meet this Friday in the other Lower State 2A semifinal. … The Warhorses average 316.6 rushing yards per game. Two of their standout running backs have more than 1,000 yards — Mykal Lee and Anton Buxton. … Nine of Barnwell’s 11 victories have come by 20 points or more. … A banged up Carvers Bay squad comes into the game with plenty of questions, among them whether quarterback Janaz Sumpter’s sore ankle will allow him to play. The same goes for backup quarterback and emerging running back Levi White, who also is suffering from a sprained ankle. … The Carvers Bay defense has fared well the past two weeks, forcing nine turnovers.
