Socastee basketball player Jason Cudd has been offered a scholarship from South Carolina, according to outgoing Braves coach DeAndre Scott.

It is the third known offer for Cudd, who at 7-foot-1 is the tallest player locally in recent memory and also the first USC target in this area since Carvers Bay’s Carlton Geathers signed with the Gamecocks in 2010.

This past season as a junior, Cudd was fifth on the Grand Strand in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game, while also finishing in the top 10 in rebounds (8.0 per game). Cudd previously received offers from East Carolina and Western Carolina.
