High school roundup (March 22, 2016)
The Loris boys golf team may be young, but it’s getting there as Lions have been steadily improving under coach Dave Albrecht.
On Tuesday, Loris took down Marion by 32 strokes and Albrecht had a player shoot in the 40s for the first time this season as Lukas Little earned medalist honors with a 13-over 49. Each tournament, the Lions have improved in some way.
“We’re coming along,” Albrecht said. “It’s encouraging. Some scores could be lower, but as long as we keep seeing improvement, that’s what we’re shooting for. We’re a young team.”
While Little led the way, his teammates weren’t far behind. Dawson Pickford fired a 51, Tre’Quan Bellamy shot a 53 and Kyle Dirmyer had a 55 to round out the scoring for Loris (2-3).
“Our scores are progressively lowering,” Albrecht said. “If we can continue to do that, it would be great.”
