▪ (At) Timmonsville 70, Green Sea Floyds 41 | The Whirlwinds hit eight 3-pointers and limited Trojans top scorer Tamara Jackson to eight points en route to a win in the first round of the Class A playoffs.
“We just struggled to hit shots tonight,” Green Sea Floyds coach Tracy Kienast said. “They came out on fire and they werne’t missing. We just couldn’t keep up with their shooting. And they’re pretty quick.”
The Trojans lose three starters next season, but do return Jackson, the area’s leading scorer this season.
“It was rough with injureis here at the end, but at the same time, hopefully it will benefit next year,” Kienast said. “With the injuries, we had JV players having rotate in and out of game and our bench players had to play a lot more than last season. It’s not the way I’d like it to end – losing in the first round – but hopefully that will give us some experience coming back. Hopefully we can use that and build upon it. We’ll get them in the gym this summer and maybe go to a camp or two and see what we can do.”
