St. James baseball duo commits to Coppin State
Two of Robbie Centracchio’s St. James baseball players made verbal commitments to NCAA Division I program Coppin State last week. Catcher Hunter Spencer and outfielder Liam Bloom each appear headed to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference school in Baltimore.
Bloom, a Toast of the Coast selection last spring, batted .338 with 16 RBIs. He added 13 runs scored and stole 10 bases for the Sharks, who finished as the Region VII-AAA runner-up.
Spencer was used primarily defensively during his junior season. In 15 total games games, he recorded 17 assists and 10 put outs while also posting a 1.71 ERA in 16 1/3 innings on the mound.
Coppin State finished 3-38-2 overall in 2015. Its current roster does not include any players from South Carolina.
