Scoring machine: St. Edward 6-10 junior Thomas Schmock had 33 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the field, including 6 for 11 on 3-pointers, as the Eagles took down East Jackson in a consolation bracket game.

Highlight reel: Montverde 6-9 senior center Bruno Fernando ripped down a rebound and sprung back up to the rim for a dunk that began a 10-0 run in the first half that gave the Eagles a 16-point lead in a win over St. Francis.

Number crunching: Why did the final game Tuesday night start an hour after the scheduled tip off? Possibly because there were 43 fouls called in the previous game between Shadow Mountain and Bartow, accounting for 68 free throws. A couple technical fouls were called for good measure.

Game of the Day: Myrtle Beach put a scare into Mustang (Okla.). The Seahawks led with less than 7 minutes to play, were tied inside the final 4 minutes and were within 2 points with 1:40 to play before Mustang scored the final six points.

On the Horizon: The semifinals of the 35th Beach Ball Classic will begin at 7 p.m. with Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) facing Montverde (Fla.), followed by the second semifinal featuring Shadow Mountain (Ariz.) and the Mater Dei (Calif)-St. John’s winner.
