High school roundup (Dec. 11)
Myrtle Beach boys basketball coach Craig Martin praised his defense Friday night.
Martin’s offense didn’t do bad, either.
Jaquan Chestnut had a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, Robert Swanson scored 19, and Bryce Schneider had 17 points as the Seahawks outlasted Carolina Forest for a 75-55 win at home.
“I think it’s all on the defense,” Martin said. “Defensively, we played much better as a team and that’s where it all was. … Just the defensive intensity and playing a complete game defensively was key. And that’s the theme, we want to continue playing [great] defense.”
On Monday, the Seahawks host rival Conway at 7:30 p.m.
“Conway is good,” Martin said. “It’s always exciting to play crosstown rivals and we’re excited for the challenge. We’re looking forward to Monday.”
