High school roundup (Dec. 8)

▪ (At) St. James 64, Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach 19 | Coming off a loss to rival Socastee, the Sharks had an opportunity to bounce back and gain some momentum Tuesday.

“We’re working hard, trying to get better every day,” St. James coach Stan Patterson said. “We had a lot of energy tonight. It was good to see.”
Socastee beat the Sharks 42-32 last Friday, and the Braves will host St. James this Friday at 6 p.m.
“It’s a rivalry game and we always want to beat our rivals,” Patterson said. “We’re going to give it our best effort.”

Socastee had lost its previous contest against Myrtle Beach.
“They got us at their place and it’s a rival contest. Our kids wanted to come back and protect homecourt and they did,” Braves coach DeAndre Scott said. “It was good. Hopefully it will help build confidence down the road.”
Cudd, a 7-footer, was 10-for-11 from the field as the Braves’ size was a key factor.
“They have a talented backcourt and it was size against speed,” Scott said. “But it’s always a good game when the two teams from (S.C.) 707 get together.”
