HTC Thanksgiving Basketball Tip-Off Classic begins
The HTC Thanksgiving Tip-Off Classic got underway Thursday with games featuring teams from the Pee Dee and Grand Strand.
▪ Action began with Maranatha Christian School (Florence) claiming an 82-54 victory over Lowcountry Prep of Pawleys Island. Brandon Brevan led all scorers with 24 points, while Mace Liberman was the primary scorer for Lowcountry Prep with 22.
▪ Despite 25 points from Emmanuel Christian’s (Hartsville) Luke Raines, North Myrtle Beach Christian School notched a win in the tournament’s second matchup, prevailing by a count of 56-46. Jeff Hintz led the way for North Myrtle Beach Christian.
▪ Pee Dee Academy picked up a 58-47 win over Flemington Academy (Lake Waccamaw, N.C.) in the day’s third contest. Flemington Academy’s Malik Williams led all scorers with 19 points, while Jake Lane had 14 for Pee Dee Academy.
▪ In the day’s final match-up, Calvary Christian picked up a win over Conway Christian, aided largely by the effort of Josh McDonald’s 26 points.
The tournament continues Friday afternoon at Conway Christian School. Games are held at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
A tournament championship game will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
