High school basketball preseason tournaments getting underway
BEAR JAM DAY TWO ON TAP
Several area boys and girls basketball teams will participate in the second day of Carvers Bay’s annual Bear Jam basketball scrimmages Tuesday.
Local varsity teams for the second day include the St. James boys and girls, Socastee boys and girls and Carvers Bay boys. Waccamaw’s and Georgetown’s boys and girls teams and the Carvers Bay girls played in the event Monday.
Games begin at 4:30 p.m., and all scrimmages will be played at the high school. Admission is $6 for an all-day pass.
BUDDY ROGERS SHOOTOUT
The inaugural Anderson Brothers Bank Buddy Rogers Shootout will be Saturday at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center.
The matchups for the event were decided last week during a luncheon and the unveiling of the Buddy Rogers Memorial at the Sports Center. The late Myrtle Beach, Socastee and Coastal Academy coach died in 2005 after becoming one of the most influential sports personalities on the Grand Strand.
The cost for the Shootout – which includes all nine Horry County boys and girls teams, the Wilson boys and the Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach girls – is $6 for an all-day pass. It will be live-streamed at HTCConnect.com.
