At least five more area athletes have taken advantage of the NCAA early signing period or have declared intentions to do so prior to Wednesday’s deadline.

Carolina Forest lacrosse athlete Kaitlin Howell joined seven other Panthers who signed last week when she committed to NCAA Division II Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. Two more softball players – Loris’ Taylor Kennedy (Erskine) and North Myrtle Beach’s Rayni Newman (Francis Marion) – will also fulfill verbal commitments. Waccamaw pitcher Carter Fox will sign with Presbyterian on Wednesday.

Socastee guard Mia Angelo is the lone basketball player who will sign during the early period. Angelo is verbally committed to Catawba and will have a ceremony on Thursday.
