Chalk it up to a job well done.

Six Grand Strand volleyball stars and two coaches were selected Friday to take part in the North-South All-Star matches next month.

The four-match event is scheduled to take place Nov. 20 and 21 at Erskine College, located in Due West. Activities are being hosted by the State Coaches Association of Women’s Sports (SCAWS).

Enjoying a 19-1-1 season in which it also earned the Region VI-AAAA title, Socastee will be represented at the all-star event by senior standouts Mary Guest and Dale Rogers. The pair will be joined by Myrtle Beach’s Maggie Slabinski on the AAAA/AAA South all-star team.

Locally, Waccamaw was the only other squad with a pair of student-athletes selected, with Ora Parker and Leea Whetstone chosen as all-stars on the AA/A South team. Also selected as an AA/A South all-star was Aynor’s Bell McKenzie.

St. James’ Lindsay Mayer and Aynor’s Michelle Altman also will take part in the activities, tabbed as coaches for the AAAA/AAA and AA/A teams, respectively.

Four matches are set to occur over the course of two days.

The opening day’s set of matches will pit the North AAAA/AAA team taking on their counterparts from the North AA/A squad, with the South AAAA/AAA team facing South AA/A all-stars.

Activities will conclude the following day with the AA/A North and South teams facing off, in addition to a match between the AAAA/AAA North and South squads.
