Carolina Forest girls, Waccamaw boys net wins at North Myrtle Beach swim meet
The Carolina Forest girls swimming team made the most of its chance to shine Saturday.
With area power Myrtle Beach competing in an out-of-area meet, the Panthers swam to a victory in a meet at the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center.
While Carolina Forest had no individual winners, the 400-yard freestyle relay team – Taylor Steele, Anna Fortenberry, Jensen Helgerson, Elizabeth Gatley – took home a victory as the team finished with 103 points, 17 more than runner-up West Florence.
On the boys side, Sean King (200-yard individual medley; 100-yard backstroke) and Patrick Sullivan (50-yard freestyle; 100-yard freestyle) won two events each to lead Waccamaw to a 26-point victory ahead of runner-up Carolina Forest.
Waccamaw’s boys 200-yard medley relay – John Crosby, Jonah Crosby, Sullivan, King – and 200-yard freestyle relay – Jonah Crosby, John Crosby, King, Sullivan – teams both placed first.
Socastee’s Jenn Paul (200-yard freestyle; 500-yard freestyle) was meet’s other individual to win more than one event.
St. James’ girls 200-yard freestyle relay team – Katherine Price, Camille Shklyar, Kate Wolff, Ana Wolff – picked up a win.
