Eight Grand Strand basketball players have been included in Phenom Hoop Report’s most-recent South Carolina individual rankings.

The list includes one senior, four juniors and three sophomores. By comparison, the recruiting and tournament service did not include a single area player from last year’s graduating class on its state list.

Now, that’s a different story.

Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach guard Bernard Jones came in at No. 20 among the area’s seniors. Juniors included Duane Moss (Carolina Forest, No. 3), Bryce Schneider (Myrtle Beach, No. 4), Jason Cudd (Socastee, No. 10) and Justin Busby (Waccamaw, No. 26).

Three area sophomores rounded out Phenom’s updated rankings. They were Conway’s Juwan Moody (No. 13), Waccamaw’s Samuel Woods (No. 14) and Conway’s Jimmy Nichols (No. 18).

Phenom ranked the top 50 seniors, top 35 juniors and top 25 sophomores. It does not release player ratings for current freshmen. The service, one of several evaluating players from this area, updates its player rankings every several months.
