First-time champs! Green Sea Floyds boys win cross-country state title

The Green Sea Floyds boys won their first state cross-country championship Friday at the Aiken Steeplechase course.

The Trojans had four runners in the top 10 as they won the Class A championship after a pair of runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2024.

Cole Forbus (18:05) was third and Damian Rapa (18:06) fourth to lead the Trojans. Blakeley Mincey (18:23) was ninth and Peyton Turner (18:32) 10th.

Riverwalk Academy’s Hunter Willis won the boys’ race with a time of 18:00.

On the girls’ side, GSF finished third with 60 points and had three all-state finishers. Nelly Clark (22:41) was eighth, Emily Stetson (23:20) 11th and Allexa Balikes (23:30) 13th. The top 15 runners earn all-state honors.

Dixie won the team championship and individual championship with Rachel Prescott (19:55) finishing first.

Friday was the first day of the cross-country championships. The Class 5A Division I, II and Class 3A championships will be Saturday in Aiken.
