Back on Top! Myrtle Beach boys tennis claims another state championship
Myrtle Beach boys tennis got its championship back this weekend.
The Seahawks defeated Riverside, 4-2, to win the Class 5A Division II championship on Saturday that started in one venue and finished in another.. The championship started at the Cayce Tennis Center but moved to University of South Carolina Indoor Courts after heavy rain in the morning.
The Seahawks’ match was supposed to start at 11 a.m. but they finally took the court at around 3:30 p.m. after the Class 4A championship ended.
Myrtle Beach jumped out quickly as Wyatt Anderson defeated Eric Zhou, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
With the championship tied at 1-1, the Seahawks rattled off three straight victories to clinch their third championship in the past four seasons.
