Area baseball, softball players make all-state, North-South

Seven area players were named to the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association all-state teams.

Carolina Forest’s Andrew Brong and Patrick Orlando and Socastee’s Dylan Thompson and Austin Schmitz were honored in Class AAAA.

Myrtle Beach’s Praise Thorsen was the player from Class AAA honored.

Waccamaw’s Levi Almond and Tucker Perry were honored in AA.

High school softball

Ten area softball players and one coach were named as participants for the North-South All-Star competition.

Carolina Forest’s Emily Merriam and Marissa Nunes were selected for the AAAA/A South squad, while Aynor’s Shelby Cox and Hannah Seaver, Georgetown’s Crystyn Neely, North Myrtle Beach’s Taylor Hansis and Julia Cole, St. James’ Noel Cassidy, and Waccamaw’s Leah Boghosian and Olivia Dunlap were all placed on the AAA/AA South team.

Myrtle Beach’s Meredith Jiorle was named of the coaches for the AAA/AA South squad.
