Updated area high school playoff schedule (May 10)
The Grand Strand is already guaranteed one team playing for a state title.
In next few days, we’ll see if we have more.
The all-area Class AAA Lower State boys soccer match between St. James and Myrtle Beach will happen Tuesday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. The fourth meeting between those two will determine which has one more game this season for Saturday’s state championship.
Others are in solid position to join them this week.
With a win Monday, the Carolina Forest baseball team will earn the right to host the Lower State finals, a major step toward playing for the state championship next week. That’s the same position Aynor softball is in while also being charged with picking up that second straight Lower State victory on the road.
Following a win at Johnsonville on Saturday, the Blue Jackets will be playing at Andrews on Monday.
The Socastee boys tennis team is just two wins away from the state championship match. The Braves will play at two-time defending Class AAAA Lower State winner South Aiken on Monday. The St. James boys tennis team, already winners of its first two playoff matches in school history, heads to Hilton Head.
