Friday’s area sports briefs

Quadarius Grate has been a standout for the St. James boys soccer team all season.

He took it to a higher level Friday night.

Grate scored two goals to lead the Sharks to a 2-0 win over Hilton Head in the second round of the Class AAA playoffs.

“Today he really blossemed,” St. James coach Drew Pavy said.

The Sharks will play at Aiken at 7 p.m. Saturday in a third-round matchup.

“They left it out on the field tonight,” Pavy said. “They showed they wanted it more.”

▪ Goals: St. James: Quadarius Grate 2.
