Baseball, softball playoffs in full swing for area teams

After a busy first day of the state baseball and softball playoffs, eight more area teams open the playoffs Friday.

The Region VII-AAA squads begin their hopeful postseason runs, with two area softball teams advancing second-round games by one day due to scheduling conflicts over the weekend.

Below is an updated schedule for the 22 area squads still alive for a state title. Next to each class is what’s at stake. Those playing second-round games need one more victory to reach their respective district title series.

FRIDAY:

AAA (First round)

No. 4 Aiken at No. 1 Myrtle Beach, 7 p.m.

No. 3 Swansea at No. 2 St. James, 6 p.m.
