Area high school baseball and softball standings through April 12
If history tells us anything, it’s that the final two weeks of the regular season will be a hectic mess for the area’s baseball and softball teams. Region standings will shuffle, teams will qualify for the playoffs and others will be eliminated.
Add in what is expected to be a week full of weather issues, and the scramble in the races to the postseason could become even more interesting.
Have coverage of three games planned this week. Based on weather forecasts, say the chance of all three sticking is slim to none.
— Ian Guerin (@iguerin) April 12, 2015Heading into the next-to-last week of the regular season, several area teams have already put themselves in prime position not only for a playoff bid, but a No. 1 seed. Baseball programs Socastee, Myrtle Beach, St. James, and Waccamaw currently sit atop their respective regions, with softball teams Carolina Forest, Conway, and Georgetown doing the same.
After this week, the postseason pictures could clear up considerably.
Below is an updated list of region standings and schedules. Records and remaining region games were provided by area coaches. The top four teams will make the playoffs in each region.
