It’s a good time to be Bryar Johnson.

A week after being drafted by the Kansas City Royals, the recent Carolina Forest graduate on Friday was named Perfect Game South Carolina Player of the Year.

This past season, Johnson was 4-3 with a 1.56 ERA in 40 1/3 innings pitched. In his time on the bump, he struck out 65 opposing batters as opposed to 24 walks.

As a result of his work, he earned All-State 5A and All-Region VI-5A distinction. He was also selected to play on the S.C. Select team.

Shortly after being selected by the Royals, Johnson signed on with the club. He is currently in Arizona getting acclimated to playing for a big league organization.
