6 Grand Strand area volleyball standouts earn all-state, all-star honors
Following sterling volleyball campaigns in which each of their teams earned region titles, the contributions of standout players from Myrtle Beach and Waccamaw has earned acclaimed statewide.
The Grand Strand volleyball squads each had two players earn all-state or all-star recognition by the state Coaches Association of Women’s Sports, its list of all-stars released on Wednesday.
For Myrtle Beach, junior Cassie Runyon and sophomore Gracie Davis earned all-state honors in Class 4A. The pair has been key in the Seahawks’ 31-1-1 season, one which will see them play in the Lower State semifinal round Thursday.
Also playing a large role in their team’s success is Waccamaw senior standouts Reagan Bass Sarah Krask. Both players were named to the South A/2A/3A team— matches that will be played Nov. 19 at Erskine College — while Bass earned all-state honors in Class 3A.
Also earning all-state recognition was Carolina Forest junior Alexis Tomlin and Conway senior Mykah Frazier.
