Weekly golf tip with Brad Redding (Aug. 23, 2016)

Beach ball drill

When I have a student who tends to move the club back with just their arms and hands, I will have them use a beach ball. Being at the beach these are pretty easy to get. A lot of golfers tend to try to swing the club back by moving the clubhead with their arms and hands and then use their body in the downswing. Well, it should be just the opposite. Take a beach ball and place it between your arms. Move the club back where the butt end of the golf club is pointed at the beach ball in the takeaway. Keep the ball between your arms as you turn your back and chest to the top of your backswing. Feel that stretch?
