The early returns from the First Tee of the Grand Strand’s Future Generations Tournament held last Tuesday at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club show the event should net approximately $42,000, which is a nearly 250 percent increase over 2015, according to First Tee executive director Rich Abraham.

Fundraising efforts included entry fees, a silent auction that was held online for a month and at the event, and raffle/mulligan sales. Golf Channel personalities Kelly Tilghman and Charlie Rymer hosted the tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

Proceeds will benefit programs of the non-profit youth development organization, which reaches thousands of youth in Horry and Georgetown counties. “It was a big day for The First Tee,” Abraham said.

Primary tournament sponsors include Caledonia, Revels Turf & Tractor, the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association, PGA Tour Superstore and Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday.
