Irishman Rory McIlroy, the 2010 and 2015 Wells Fargo Championship winner and the No. 2-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking, committed Monday to play in the Charlotte PGA Tour event scheduled for May 5-8 at Quail Hollow Club.

McIlroy, winner of four major championships and 18 career titles worldwide, became the 14-year tournament's first multiple champion and broke 11 records while tying two others during his seven-shot victory over Webb Simpson and Patrick Rodgers in 2015.

In his six appearances at Quail Hollow, McIlroy has won twice, missed the cut, and tied for second, 10th and eighth.

Australian Adam Scott, who is ranked sixth in the world and has already won twice on the PGA Tour this year, has also already committed to the tournament.

With Quail Hollow Club hosting the 2017 PGA Championship, this year’s field is expected to feature many of the world’s top players. Tickets are available at WellsFargoChampionship.com or by calling 800-945-0777. Children 12 and younger are admitted free with a paid adult.
