In each of the past two seasons, Roberto Diaz has converted conditional status on the Web.com Tour into full status by playing well when he’s had opportunities early in the season.

He won’t have as much concern about solidifying his status in 2016.

The Myrtle Beach resident earned a more secure status Sunday by finishing 21st in the 157-player Web.Com Tour Qualifying Tournament Finals at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Diaz shot an even-par 71 in Sunday’s final round to move up 21 spots and tie for 21st at 4-under 282.

Medalist Adam Svensson of Canada is guaranteed fully-exempt status next year. Players that finished second through 10th are subject to the third reshuffle after 12 tournaments and players finishing 11th through 45th will be subject to the second reshuffle after eight tournaments.

If Diaz plays relatively well early in 2016 he should have full status for the full season.

The top 25 players on the money list after the 2016 Web.com regular season earn PGA Tour status, and players finishing 26th through 75th on the money list qualify for the four-tournament Web.com Finals, through which an additional 25 PGA Tour cards are earned.

Diaz has finished 78th and 82nd on the money list in each of the past two seasons, which didn’t get him into the four-event finals and gave him conditional status on the tour in the next season, but it did earn him a spot in the Q-School finals both years.

Diaz, a Mexico native who has lived in Myrtle Beach and trained at the Greg Norman Champions Academy at Barefoot Resort since 2010 after graduating from USC Aiken in ’09, was tied for 15th after an opening-round 4-under 68.

He dropped into a tie for 66th after a 3-over 74 Friday and moved up to 41st after a 69 Saturday.

The 2016 Web.com Tour schedule traditionally starts in late January or early February, and the early-season schedule consists of several events in Latin America.
