Asheville’s Thompson wins Carolinas Senior Am, Murrell’s Inlet’s Long finishes eighth

Pat Thompson of Asheville, N.C., shot a 5-under-par 211 to win the 54th Carolinas Senior Amateur Championship on Tuesday at the Cotton Dike Course at Dataw island Club by two shots over Rick Cloninger of Fort Mill.

John Long of Murrells Inlet tied for eighth at 1-over 74-72-71–217 and Jim Burgess of Murrells Inlet tied for 17th at 76-73-73–222.
