Proveaux wins Blade Junior title, Golden finishes 12th

Caleb Proveaux of Lexington shot an even-par 71 Wednesday in the final round of the 16th annual Blade Junior Golf Classic at Thornblade Club to defeat Logan Sowell of Kershaw and Zack Gordon of Gaffney by two strokes each with a 4-under 138.

Patrick Golden of Murrells Inlet shot a 75 Wednesday to fall back into 12th place at 3-over 145, and Vijay Mishra of North Myrtle Beach tied for 20th at 77-71–148.

Proveaux began the final round with a one-shot lead and stretched it to four at the turn with four birdies on the front nine, and a birdie on the 17th gave him a two-shot margin that held up.

Emily Cox of Lancaster won the girls title by three shots over Victoria Huskey of Greenville with a 2-over 146. Smith Knaffle of Murrells Inlet tied for eighth at 75-79–154.
