Roberto Diaz and Jason Perry, both of Myrtle Beach, have advanced from local qualifying to sectional qualifying for the $9 million U.S. Open, being played June 18-21 at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.

Sectional qualifying will be held at 10 sites across the U.S. on June 8 following international qualifiers May 25 in Japan and England.

Perry was one of seven players advancing from a local qualifier at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga., after shooting a 67 to tie for second. Diaz, a member of the Tour, was one of seven players advancing from Split Rail Links & Golf Club in Aledo, Texas, after tying for fourth with a 68.

There were 111 local qualifying sites in 43 states, and 9,882 U.S. Open applicants this year.
