Inman’s Phillips leads Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship after first round

Inman’s Trent Phillips shot a 5-under 67 on Friday to take a two-stroke lead after the first round of the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship at TPC Myrtle Beach.

Skylar Thompson of Buford, Ga., and Natalie Petersen of Holly Springs, N.C., each shot 2-under 70 to share the lead in the girls division.

Players from 19 states and five countries are participating in the 54-hole tournament.

The second round is Saturday and play will conclude with Sunday's third round.
