Murrells Inlet’s Kirk named among golf’s Best Young Teachers
Golf Digest has named Meredith Kirk of Murrells Inlet to its 2016-17 list of “Best Young Teachers” in America.
The lead instructor at the Dustin Johnson Golf School at the TPC Myrtle Beach and an ambassador for Founders Group International (FGI), owner of 22 Grand Strand courses and other businesses, was also named one of the 40 “Best Young Teachers (under 40) in America” for 2014-15 by Golf Digest.
Kirk, a 38-year-old mother of three and LPGA-accredited instructor who taught at Blackmoor Golf Club for six years, started teaching golf while enrolled at Coastal Carolina.
She authored an instruction book entitled Skill Drills and was recently featured on Golf Channel’s School of Golf and The Golf Fix. She also appeared on The Traveling Golfer with Tony Leodora.
Her book includes 91 drills from putting to getting more distance off the tee that are focused on game improvement for all skill levels. Her drills can be found at MyrtleBeachGolfTrips.com/SkillDrills and at MBN.com.
She started the non-profit Junior Golf Exchange, which provides free golf equipment to children 14 and under, and was recognized for it with the 2015 Innovator of the Year award by Golf.com.
She has several other golf teaching honors, and is also a former Mrs. South Carolina who was named one of the 2015 Most Beautiful Women in Golf by Golf.com.
