Lundy in contention, Byrd with work to do at Q-School event
Following a solid opening round of play at the Plantation (Fla.) Preserve Golf Course & Club, area golfer Patrick Lundy followed it up with a 2-under 69 Wednesday at the Web.com Tour Q-School’s second stage event.
For the tournament, the Little River native is tied for fifth with a 6-under 136. He is one shot off the lead, held by a group including Sunny Kim, Chase Parker, Ben Polland and Jesse Larson.
Play will resume Thursday morning.
Also competing in the Q-School’s second stage is Murrells Inlet resident Zack Byrd, playing at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla.
He is finding things a tad tougher, however, shooting even par on Wednesday to stay at 1-over for the tournament. Byrd is currently tied for 48th.
Those finishing in or tied for the top 18 positions in each qualifier will earn a spot in the Q-School’s final stage. It will take place at Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Fla., on Dec. 8-11.
