Big South unveils conference basketball schedule

Coastal Carolina hasn’t released its full 2015-16 men’s basketball schedule yet, but the Big South released the conference slate for all teams Thursday.

The Chanticleers play in the league-wide opener Nov. 28 at Campbell and host Radford on Dec. 6 for their early Big South games before diving into conference play fully on Dec. 31 at Gardner-Webb.

Because of the league’s unbalanced 18-game schedule, the Chants will only play Liberty at home and Longwood on the road while playing the rest of the conference in home-and-home series.

Coastal Carolina, which is coming off back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances, opens its season in November in Hawaii as part of the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic with games against Hawaii and Nevada.

The Chants had a late obstacle in the schedule-making process, though, and are still trying to add another game before releasing their full slate.

“It’s close,” athletic director Matt Hogue said. “We need to get one more game so we’re hoping to get that nailed down before we release the entire schedule, but we’re close.”
