It’s been a banner season for the Coastal Carolina baseball team, but there remains plenty work left to be done.

However, before the team heads for Omaha, Neb., and the College World Series, it will receive quite the sendoff as it prepares to leave the Grand Strand in pursuit of a national title.

The Chanticleers will be the recipients of a sendoff celebration Wednesday evening, courtesy of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, prior to the final game of the club’s three-game homestand against the Frederick Keys.

Coastal Carolina swept No. 8 LSU in the teams’ best-of-three super regional series, the last of which came in walk-off fashion as Michael Paez’s base hit brought Anthony Marks around third and sliding into home plate for the winning run. It is the Chants’ first trip to the College World Series in program history.
