Error costs Coastal Carolina in loss to Charleston Southern

Despite leading by a run entering the eighth inning, the Coastal Carolina baseball team dropped Friday’s series opener against Charleston Southern 6-4 when a costly error led to three Buccaneers runs in the frame.

Charleston Southern loaded the bases with two outs before an error allowed two runs to score, followed by another run coming in on a bases-loaded walk.

Billy Cooke and Michael Paez each drove in two runs for Coastal (34-15, 16-3 Big South).

Cody Maw got the win on the mound for Charleston Southern (18-29, 5-14) in relief, while Coastal’s Bobby Holmes took the loss after allowing three unearned runs in relief.
