Coastal Carolina’s Devontaye Edwards won the discus (164 feet) on Day 1 of the Bill Carson Invitational on Friday.
The Chants also had three top-10 finishers in the javelin – Robert Castellani (third, 195-4), Nick Seabright (fourth, 185-1) and Cody Wilde (sixth, 174-6). Ryan Minor (fourth, 189-10) and Zach Bolton (sixth, 160-10) had top-10s in the hammer throw.
On the women’s side, Cari Pallini placed ninth in the discus (135-0) and Samantha Layko was sixth in the hammer throw (166-3).
Women’s tennis
Coastal Carolina 7, (at) Longwood 0: The Chants routed the Lancers.
Baseball
Coastal Carolina 13, (at) Radford 6: Connor Owings went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, Michael Paez was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and G.K. Young drove in three runs as the Chants routed the Highlanders.
Softball
(At) Winthrop 5, Coastal Carolina 3: The Eagles scored four runs in the first inning to pad a lead and then hang on.
