Coastal Carolina baseball falls short against Cincinnati
After Coastal Carolina struck first, Cincinnati jumped out to a big lead through six innings en route to a 10-7 win in the Chanticleer Classic on Friday.
G.K. Young hit a two-run home run in the first inning to allow the Chanticleers to jump out to a 2-0 lead.
The Bearcats responded quickly.
Kyle Mottice and Manny Rodriguez each drove in a pair of runs in the second inning to allow Cincinnati to take the lead. The Bearcats added two runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to build a 9-2 lead.
The Chants showed signs of life again in the seventh when Kieton Rivers highlighted a five-run frame with a pinch-hit grand slam as Coastal pulled to within 9-7.
Cincinnati added another run in the top of the eighth and held the Chants scoreless in the final two innings to secure the victory.
